I was sampling with the MN DNR last night, and on the drive up to Grand Marais, we spotted a wolf! It is the first one I've seen in Northern Minnesota. It was located just north of Lutsen, standing on the side of the road, looking both ways to cross the road. After we drove past, I looked back and sure enough, when there was a break in traffic it trotted across the highway into the brush.
Below is a picture of the only other wolf I've ever seen, in Denali National Park in Alaska in 2005. (Thanks, E & G for emailing the picture, since all my photos of Alaska were lost when my camera's memory card suffered a fatal malfunction.)
