I wanted to acknowledge all the wonderful and generous gifts we have received for Paul, and to ask your forgiveness in advance for not sending out thank-yous in a timely manner. After March 15 (when we are moved into our new house and I have finished a fellowship application), I promise it will be the top priority on my "to-do list".
Thanks for understanding!

Man, I'm still on Christmas!
I think when you have a new baby people understand.
I'm still waiting for a thank you note for a wedding gift I gave in the summer of 2007....(not to anyone on this side of the family). Needless to say...if that person ever has a baby...they will NOT be getting a baby gift from me!
formal etiquette doesn't require a thank you note after the birth of a baby. I think it's because you might have a few other things going on in your life! So in other words, don't worry about them, if you feel like you need to send them, then by all means, don't feel like you need to be in a rush!
Uhh . . . what about your dissertation?
