Last night, I went sampling with the MN DNR to try and capture some Mysis to use in my lake trout lab trials. Although I was unsuccessful at catching more than a handful, it was a beautiful evening on Lake Superior.

Heading out at dusk.

Sampling is fun!

Duluth waterfront at night.

It's hard to see in this photo, but we actually had to wait at the Canal for a big ore boat to come through under the lift bridge. The green light on the left was the lighthouse at the end of the canal, and the long series of parallel white lights on the right are the ore boat. It was amazing how quiet that big ship was--it glided through the water without any engine noise.

The stern of the ore boat as it headed out to sea.
