These days he is crawling around on all fours, pulling himself up into standing position, cruising around all the walls and furniture, and has begun taking a few steps unsupported. He has also become adept at opening all the cupboards and drawers, finding any light sockets that we neglected to put covers on, and trying to figure out how to open the gate at the top of the stairs. Needless to say, we finally childproofed the house.
We think he is trying to say a few words - mama (only when he's upset), Nora, and today it sounded like he was trying to say banana. He definitely is starting to understand stuff - I think his vocabulary comprehension has finally surpassed Nora's, although she is still better at listening to directions, especially "no" and "leave it". His favorite words are "vacuum" (he'll lead you to his closet where the vacuum resides) and "dishwasher" which he loves to "help" unload.
His least favorite words are, "no" (isn't that true of all children?), "it's time for bed", and "let's go change your diaper." Seriously, this kid would stay in a wet stinky diaper ALL DAY if it meant not having to sit still long enough for us to change his diaper.
In my perfect world, Paul would sleep through the night more regularly than twice in 10 months. Recently, he has regressed and has been getting up 2-3 times per night again. Not sure what else to try at this point (I weaned him from nighttime feedings, which was surprisingly easy, so that's not the issue) but at this point I'm open to advice and suggestions. Otherwise, he's a bundle of fun these days and is always keeping us laughing with his antics, especially at mealtimes.

You forgot to mention that Paul and his Grandpa John play a very silly game where we shriek at each other!
It will be the first of many bad habits that I will teach him.
Teeth Beth? It seems when Rachel (or Jonas) had a bunch coming in they regressed in sleep.
Rachel hates to hear "no" too. If you say it to her she'll break out in a genuine cry....its so sad. Often times we are telling her no for her safety :(
Beth, I am still woken up at least 1-2 times a night for some reason or another. I don't think we get good nights of sleep until kids hit the teenage years!
As awful as it sounds, we tried to let the girls cry for 10 minutes before we would go in to their rooms. If they were still crying then we would go in and check on them and try to calm them down. Sometimes they hit growth spurts too where they need a little extra to drink in the middle of the night.
