The newest Sandberg

We had the 20-week ultrasound today.  We won't get the official results of the radiologist's report for another week, but the tech said everything looked good.  The baby was very, very active (just like her/his brother at this age), so it was tough getting good photos.  Oh yes, and we decided to wait to find out whether it is a boy or a girl, so those of you with medical training - if you can see anything in these photos - we don't want to know!!!

2D image - side view

3D image - hands up by head looking down

3D image - resting briefly.

And, for John, the image of the 4-chamber heart.  Yes, it really is a mammal (or bird):

So what do you think - does the baby look more like me or John?  Ha!

wow have these ultra sound pictures come a long way in just six years! We even had a level 2 ultra sound with Jorgen and I still couldn't see anything in the picture. You can really see that it's a person in the 3D images!

I know - they didn't offer the 3D u/s just two years ago with Paul. Although to be honest, I think the 3D u/s is really useful only as a perk for parents, since all the medical measurements are still made on the 2D.

you should post the image labelled "four chambered heart"... I couldn't identify a lot from the images, or tell if it was a boy or girl, but it was comforting to know we are having a mammal or bird and not a reptile or fish. medical technology is wonderful.

Precisely...3D u/s is just for parents...although in theory the data could be used for the same measurements as the 2D.

It is truly amazing to see such detail so early on. I didn't see any "discerning" features that identified the baby as a boy or girl. But what do I know???
