Sampling frustrations

I spent the early part of the week in Duluth, trying to pick up the equipment that I needed to sample a lake in Wisconsin. I ended up waiting on an environmental company that was supposed to ship back a CTD (conductivity-chlorophyll-temp-depth) sensor on Monday. On Monday (after I was in Duluth), it didn't show up so I called the company and they had forgot to send it. Grrr....so they said they would ship in Mon. and it would arrive on Wed. On Tues, they finally sent me the tracking info, which indicated it was slated to arrive on Thurs. I was livid. I emailed my contact person and told him it was absolutely unacceptable. He agreed, and changed the shipping to next day. So I finally received the CTD on Wed., only to be thwarted by the weather (rain, wind, thunderstorms). So, back to Duluth next week to try again. Sigh.

Last night, there were some big thunderstorms to the northwest of us. You can see the top of a couple of thunderheads in this photo:

Even if the cabin is tiny, it has some fantastic views and beautiful white pines:

Idiots.

What Thorsten always grumbles in these situations: "EVERYTHING I have to do myself."
