It is John's birthday today!! He turns a big round number and finally catches up to me in age. No big plans for celebrating, but I did promise to make a nice meal and a homemade apple pie for dessert. I always get way more excited about his birthday than John ever does, but oh well.
I'm sure this is what John wishes he was doing to celebrate his birthday rather than working today:

Happy 30th to a great son-in-law!!
Happy birthday, John, a day late! Hey, you have to get more excited about crossing into 30s land . . .
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. I had a great day after I came home from work - Beth made venison stir-fry and baked an apple pie. Can't be beat!
I received some great gifts, including gourmet coffee from the Holbrook/Barsch-es, a mini-keg of Warsteiner from John & Mary, and some lined pants from Beth for taking the dog outside to pee when it's -20 degrees.
While I'm here, I wanted to comment on the obvious bias shown in the sidebar baby name poll. The name "Huckleberry" was misspelled HuckLEberry, and I believe deliberately so. I mean, everyone knows Huckleberry is a great name, but Huckelberry? Please.
The fact that Huckelberry is STILL winning the poll, despite the best efforts of "the opposition", just reinforces its awesomeness. If that is a word.
And no, I have not already drained that keg of Warsteiner, if that's what you were thinking.
John
I mean, it was misspelled "HuckELberry", not the other way around. I'm sure you all know what I meant.
How do you edit this %&^$ thing, anyhow? Is there no going back once I sent it through the internets?
