Prepping for Winter

Two months ago, our landlord had a cord of wood delivered to our yard. Not sure why he needs that much wood...apparently he wanted some to burn in his fire pit, but a cord seems a bit excessive. In any case, it has sat on the ground rotting for two months and given that winter is quickly approaching and our landlord was not so quickly doing something about his pile of wood, last weekend we decided to take care of it. John split the larger pieces and I stacked them (according to the John Holbrook Method of Wood Stacking, of course), and we finished off the entire pile in a couple of hours. Not bad for being 6 months pregnant, eh?

Good one!

As my niece Katrina would say, "Did it!!"

Celebratory lunch. Okay, so I didn't get to drink any beer, but the pizza sure tasted good.

I am very proud of the very neat way that you stacked the wood.

Obviously, I have taught you well in the critical skills of wood splitting and wood stacking.

Do you get to burn the wood too? Or is this a gift to your landlord?

Well, we don't have anywhere to burn it. I guess we could make a big bonfire this winter, though. Maybe when Dukie Drew comes for the ice-fishing tourney...
