Yesterday after it stopped snowing, John and I thought we should go down to Canal Park and Park Point to check out the big waves. The pictures I took don't do them justice...they were probably the biggest waves I've seen on Lake Superior, but they were well organized into gigantic swells. It was hard to enjoy them, though, with the 40 mph winds and ice pellets blowing off the top of the waves. I also took a short video so you can get a sense of the sound of the wind and waves.

The waves were cresting the top of the concrete wall along the canal and spilling into the walkway where people usually stand to watch the ore boats come in

Nora loved the sand and the waves. She kept running around grabbing big mouthfuls of sand, like she typically does with snow...she must have thought it was awfully funny tasting snow!
Sorry for the shaky camera work, but it is hard to hold the camera still with 40 mph winds!

An absolutely awesome storm. Mary and I wish we could have been there to see this but how could that happen when we had 14" of snow here in Nisswa.
Uncle John's weather looked better than your weather...amazing shots!
