Surviving the Storm

It is still blowing hard and snowing in Duluth. Hard to say how much snow we've received, because it is snowing sideways at about 40 mph. We have some 2-3' drifts in our yard, but other spots are bare. Too bad the harbor cam is covered in snow, because it would be impressive to see the Lake Superior waves right now. Maybe I can talk John into checking them out tomorrow a.m. Here is the latest from the Weather Service:

OBSERVATIONS AROUND THE HEAD OF LAKE SUPERIOR HAVE REPORTED SUSTAINED WINDS UP TO 40 KNOTS WITH FREQUENT GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 50 KNOTS. THE DULUTH LIFT BRIDGE HAS REPORTED WAVE HEIGHTS UP TO 12 FEET. WITH NORTHEAST WINDS OF 40 TO 45 KNOTS...AND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 50 KNOTS OVER WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR...WAVE HEIGHTS WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. WAVES AS HIGH AS 16 TO 18 FEET ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING OVER THE COASTAL AREAS.

I sure wish that the Duluth video cam was working so I could see the waves.
