Skiing at Foothills State Forest

It was a beautiful, sunny day today (and almost warm...about 20 F) so we went skiing at some cc ski trails in the Foothills State Forest, about 10 miles west of Pine River. It was a great workout! Lots of hills (up and down), including one of the biggest hills I've gone down since we skied Lester Park in Duluth. All together, we covered about 5.5 miles, but it felt farther with all the hills!

Taking a break in a shelter at the half way point

A map of the cc ski trails. The yellow line marks our route. Next time (when in a little better shape), we'll try the black diamond 5.1 km loop back to the parking lot

Hills in Minnesota? There are no hills there, only little rises here and there. If you want to ski REAL hills, come to Vermont! We'll show you the true meaning of "hills".

CHG (kidding of course)
