20 week ultrasound

Last week we had the 20 week ultrasound. Still awaiting word from the doctor regarding the results, but the technician did give us a couple of pictures. It was rather amazing to feel the baby kick at the same time watching it move around on the ultrasound. Oh yes, and for those of you anxiously waiting to hear whether it is a girl or boy...stay tuned. We decided to wait until the baby is born to find out. As one nurse said, "there are few times in life when you get to be genuinely surprised, and that is definitely one of them."

There s/he is! (Side profile of the baby on its back in case you are confused.)

In related news, my belly is getting bigger, and I'm blaming that for the unfortunate event a couple of days ago when I tripped on some paving stones in the yard that our landlord has yet to bury, bruising my toe, scraping up my wrist, and putting a deep gouge in my knee. Fortunately, John had just arrived home and did a great job of helping me get cleaned and patched up. Given that tripping and falling is not a recommended activity for pregnant women, I intend to be more careful in the future, but also given my propensity for clumsiness prior to even becoming pregnant, I'm not all that hopeful I can get through the next few months without a few more incidents.

S/he looks just like you/John.

Hopefully mine will come this week!

I think no news is good news with the ultrasound. I always got mine done at a radiologist place and if there was something abnormal they would tell you right away.

Oh my gosh Beth. You are cracking me up so much. Your blog is hilarious and makes me laugh. I am glad that you didn't get hurt too bad when you fell. You and Jeff could be friends because he trips and falls *all* of the time!!
