I had an OB appointment in Duluth last Friday, the last one in Duluth since my insurance there has now ended. The appointment went well--my vitals were good and I even gained 8 pounds (!). That seems like a lot to me, having been essentially the same weight since college, but the nurse practitioner said it was right on target for being this far along (17 weeks). The most exciting part was listening to the heartbeat on the doppler (wow, did it sound loud and strong this time around), and hearing the baby moving. The NP commented a couple of times about just how active the baby was--I told John it sounded as if our kid was practicing jump shots in there.
Probably the most surprising thing for me the last couple weeks is how quickly my belly has expanded. For 3 months, it seemed like essentially nothing happened (at least on the outside) and then in a matter of 3 weeks I can no longer fit into any of my clothes (not even close). Maybe those of you who have been pregnant before have had the same experience? Right now I'm relegated to wearing a couple pairs of John's pants, until some maternity clothes I ordered online arrive (ah, the joys of being 6'2" and trying to find clothes that fit).

Maternity clothes never fit! I hate all maternity pants....I'm constantly pulling them up!
We want some pictures of your belly!
You know I feel like I could have writen parts of your blog - I gained 8# at 18 weeks, and suddenly in the past week I have a belly and my pants are getting unhappy. Fun to be on track with you and the pregnancy! Hope you keep feeling well/better. Hugs! Elizabeth
